It started when I accidentally walked into a tiny shop on a side street in Austin. The barista asked me what flavors I liked — not what size I wanted. That conversation changed everything.

What I Look For

Every shop I visit, I rate on four things:

• Coffee quality — Are the beans fresh? Is the extraction right?
• Food — Do they have good pastries or a real menu?
• Price — Is it fair for what you get?
• Vibe — Would I want to spend an hour here?
